Microsoft releases final IE 7 beta

A new Internet Explorer beta shows that Microsoft is trying to put its browser security woes behind it.
The software maker plans to release the third and last beta version of IE 7 on Thursday, getting closer to final delivery by the end of 2006. It will be the first major update to the popular Web browser in five years, and much of the focus for the new version is on security.
“Security was the No. 1 investment we made in IE 7, in terms of our development resources,” Tony Chor, Microsoft’s group program manager for the browser, said in an interview.

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 RTM

Well i’ve been running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 RTM for the past 2 days and all in all it’s been great.

I really like the SCW wizard used to disable unused services, and secure other aspects of the server.

NTBackup needs to be tested on a server with an HP StorageWorks Ultrium Tape Drive as that was posing problems on our servers and hope it’s fixed.

Microsoft SUS 1.0

Well I’ve successfully implemented Microsoft SUS 1.0 on our Microsoft Active Directory Network.

I had 3 goes at it (all under an NT Domain which failed badly). Now, in an Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain it works a treat.  Yay

Windows Server 2003 SP1 RC1

I have installed Windows Server 2003 SP1 RC1 to see what’s in it and 2 things surprised me, it includes Windows Media Player 10 and DirectX 9c.

Why would you need it on a Server? I thought Windows Media Player 9 was bad enough, it’s a Server not a games console or a jukebox !!
